Beyond basic demographics, commercial services and resource pools, Decatur and Macon County deliver real business incentives that go right to your bottom line.

Enterprise Zone

The Decatur Macon County Enterprise Zone offers a variety of state and local incentives including local property tax abatement and sales tax exemption on building materials for eligible projects.

Foreign Trade Zone

Comparable to free trade zones in many countries, Foreign Trade Zones provide benefits such as deferred payment of duties and freedom from certain excise taxes.

TIF Districts

Decatur and Macon County are home to multiple Tax Increment Finance Districts (TIFs), providing a way for communities to assist in the development or redevelopment of qualifying areas.

Opportunity Zones

The Opportunity Zone program incentivizes long-term, private investments in low-income urban and rural communities nationwide. With this program, any taxpayer – individual or corporation – is eligible to invest in Opportunity Funds. There is no cap on the amount that can be invested.

Opportunity Funds must be formed as a partnership or corporation and can be created by any person or entity. The Opportunity Fund is required to invest 90% of its assets in qualified Opportunity Zones in the form of stock, partnership interest, or business property.
