Workforce Investment Solutions was awarded a National Emergency Grant from the U S Department of Labor to offer skills training in the Manufacturing, Logistics, Truck Driving, and Healthcare Industries.
Laid off job seekers will have the opportunity to receive no cost, short term skills training that is scheduled to begin January 2017.
This accelerated training includes a blend of on-line, classroom and hands-on instruction.
Manufacturing training includes safety, quality, blueprint reading, and fundamental machine maintenance. Industry recognized certificates are awarded upon successful completion of certified courses.
Logistics training will include safety, material handling, quality/inventory control, shipping/receiving, storage and transportation. Industry recognized certificates are awarded upon successful completion of certified courses.
CDL–Commercial Driver’s License– course will earn a person a Class A license in five weeks.
Healthcare training earns CNA certification and can lead to more advanced nursing training.
For laid off workers who have skills and are looking for a job Workforce Investment Solutions can help transition to employment by funding hiring incentives to employers who provide On-the-Job Training.
Workforce Investment Solutions will host an information meeting to recruit individuals who require the skills or have the skill for local manufacturing, logistics, truck driving, and healthcare job openings.
